“The Lincoln is not built to meet a price. Quality is the first consideration.”
Expanding upon the new and immensely popular Lincoln Model K from the 1931 model year, the 1932 K Series Lincoln line was now split into two models, the continued ‘KA’ eight cylinder and the all new ‘KB’ twelve cylinder model. The 1932 KB rode on a 145-inch wheelbase like its 1931 K predecessor, but had many other features that set it apart from its KA sibling. The twelve cylinder model was adorned with blue cloisonné emblems in contrast to the KA red, and the radiator shroud was noticeably thinner. The massive V12 engine weighs in at over ½ ton and the valves are two inches in diameter. The crankshaft is supported by 7 main bearings. For 1932, Lincoln offered nine standard designs and fourteen factory custom body offerings.
The coachbuilders associated with the custom offerings include Brunn, Judkins, Waterhouse, Murphy, Dietrich, Willoughby, and, as seen here, LeBaron. The LeBaron Convertible Roadster proved to be popular among consumers and a handful still remain today. The only documented option was side-mounted spares, and there were 1515 KB’s produced for the model year of all body styles.
