“Wolf in wolf’s clothing.”

For 1967, Chevrolet introduced its most powerful Corvette up to that point – the L71 427 cubic-inch V8. With a high 11:1 compression ratio, solid lifter camshaft, large valve cylinder heads, and triple Holley carburetors, the L71 produced 435 horsepower. When paired with a close-ratio four-speed manual transmission, the 427/435 delivered tremendous performance, and for the first time, a stock Corvette could run the quarter mile in under 13 seconds.

This particular Corvette's history goes back to January 1967, when the original owner, Russell Majors, bought it new from Pollard-Ravenscroft Chevrolet in Van Nuys, California. Like other 1967 Corvettes originally sold in California, this car was equipped with the Air Injector Reactor (A.I.R.) emissions equipment, signified by option code RPO K19. Remarkably, this vehicle stayed with its first owner until 1995, when it was sold to East Coast Corvette collector Lawrence Sachs. The original Marlboro Maroon paint shows some patina and flaws consistent with vintage factory lacquer, while the original interior remains largely unworn. This Corvette retains its original glass and many other date-coded parts including the carburetors, alternator, manifolds, and the rarely seen California emissions equipment. It even still has its 1967 black license plates with dealer frames.

The 1967 Corvette Coupe, especially the top-level 427/435 version, is among the most iconic and sought-after cars of its time. A well-documented and preserved example like this is certainly one to be treasured.
