1992 Wayne Davis Teardrop Trailer
1992 Wayne Davis Teardrop Trailer
Teardrop trailers gained widespread popularity in the 1940s following World War II, emerging as a compelling alternative to larger-scale campers or recreational vehicles. Maneuverability and ease-of-towing with the family car made them ideal for camping stops along America’s growing network of roadways. However, their appeal declined in the late 1950s, only to experience a resurgence in recent years as more people have embraced minimalist and outdoorsy lifestyles.
This custom-made Wayne Davis camping trailer has the distinctive teardrop shape, with the front section covered in polished aluminum, while the sides feature wood paneling. The trailer's fenders are beautifully rounded and painted in a metallic deep cherry red, and its classic wire wheels complete the style.
Constructed in 1992, this vintage-looking trailer spent time in the John White Ramshead Collection before joining the Singleton Collection as a whimsical complement to the vehicles that represent the adventure and joy of motoring in America.
